Fishing Report 8-11-2009

Fishing and weather has been very good over the last 2 weeks making for a great ending to snapper season. With red snapper season going out on the 15th of this month its a great time to get in a few last trips for them. Even though snapper will be going out soon the amberjack, grouper, triggerfish and mingo fishing as been excellent. It's almost as if Cobia season is staring all over again with the abundance of whale sharks cruising just a few miles off the beach. I was out Monday and found one with about 30 cobia on it all too small to keep but there have been numerous sightings with some 40 and 50lb fish on them. Offshore fishing has been good around the nipple the last few days with several wahoo and dolphin caught with some white marlin mixed in as well. There is a bunch of bait schools off the beach which are holding a lot of king and spanish mackerel.

Thanks,

Anthony
